Summer or winter?
How long they last, and how far they reach
In the Gulf, longevity and projection are not details; they are the first question. Going by the data on each product page in our men's perfumes, Sauvage Elixir lasts longest, about 14 hours, with strong projection. Bleu de Chanel Parfum and Le Male Elixir both run about 10 hours, the first moderate in projection, the second strong. Aventus is the shortest, around 5 hours, with moderate projection.
If you want to arrive before you walk in, wear Sauvage Elixir. If you want people to lean closer, wear Bleu.
Skin and weather move these numbers, and summer heat pushes projection up and longevity down. To stretch Aventus, spray it on clothes or hair after bukhoor, or over a drop of dehn al oud, the layering we explain in Oud, from the tree to the majlis.
Lavender, the thread through three of them
If you want one bottle, make it Bleu de Chanel Parfum. If you have room for two, Aventus for the day and Sauvage Elixir or Le Male Elixir for the night, depending on whether you like it spiced or sweet. Every bottle at Atir is original and sealed.
Winter. Its spice, liquorice and amber are heavy for a Gulf summer; it reads best in autumn and winter, and at night.
Bleu de Chanel Parfum suits spring and autumn, and its lemon over sandalwood works by day and by night. It is the easiest of the four year-round.
Sauvage Elixir, about 14 hours by the data on its product page. Bleu de Chanel Parfum and Le Male Elixir follow at about 10 hours, and Aventus at about 5.
Winter. Vanilla, honey and tobacco make it warm and sweet, better suited to autumn, winter and evenings than a summer day.
Aventus is a daytime perfume for summer, spring and the office. Pineapple and bergamot keep it fresh, and birch smoke gives it character without weight.
